The accumulation of brain farts kills the plot's and characters' credibility. Some of the brain farts are merely banal, like the cop who complains he has indigestion from drinking coffee and then, just a few pages later, the author forgets writing that and has the cop going to a cafe with a friend for more coffee. Some of the brain farts are mid-level, like the guy who claims he know every inch of a particular forest, then a few pages later says he never hikes there if he has any other choice (huh?), and then later saying he can navigate the forest without any light. And some of the brain farts are just too big to ignore, like the old guy with the heart condition who outruns a pack of wild dogs while carrying two children, one of them perched on his forearm (???). But mostly it's just the relentless barrage of these brain farts, at least one on every other page. I'm frankly disgusted that this book got any good reviews. I can only surmise that modern readers are, like the author apparently, so immersed in the alternate reality of TV and video games that they wouldn't recognize a brain fart if it blasted up their nostrils. I won this book from Goodreads and Amazon for an honest review.I really enjoyed this book, it is sufficiently scary and nail biting suspenseful! The characters are wonderfully written and beautifully evolved. Finally a truly scary story that had me held in it's grip from beginning to end! Most stories claim to be a horror story and fail to deliver that true sense of dread and fear. This story does will not disappoint horror genre fans. It was a griping nerve jangling tale that will chill you to the bone and yet have you coming back for more! A smart well written story that in my opinion makes this author one of the best writers out there. I recommend this book highly to anyone who can handle a griping, nerve rattling story with heart. Well done honestly I loved it!
